The Broads Green Boat Show 2007

The Show is a unique event, and the tranquil wooded setting of the privately owned Salhouse Broad makes the perfect site. This is the only Green Boat Show in the UK and is a great opportunity to show off developments in renewable energy in the boating world. We were able to offer displays of electric boats and a bio-diesel powered hire boat, as well as many small pedal or rowing boats and dinghies, which visitors could take out on to the water. See below for a full list of exhibitors.

The 2007 Show was very popular and people arrived either by road (there is plenty of parking on site) or by taking advantage of the electric boat 'taxi' service from Wroxham. The electric ‘Helen of Ranworth’ took visitors to the Hoverton Great Broad Nature trail, a unique environment only accessible by water.

Owners of private electric boats offered free rides, to show just how quiet and peaceful their craft are, compared to diesel boats. Adults and children alike enjoyed the chance to take a pedal-boat around the Broad, or to sample canoes, rowing and electric boats, with the shelving beach and wooden moorings making it easy to launch boats and embark.

Also on site was a marquee with stands showing a variety of green products including fuel cells, solar panels, wind turbines and recycled plastic for moorings and fences. This year there were more green products – solar thermal heating, new very low energy LED lights, now at affordable prices. Exhibitors came from as far afield as Cornwall and Wales.

Traditional jazz from Lumiere Rouge added a sparkle and liveliness to the day.

The Broads Green Boat Show 2007 was very successful, and we look forward to another great day in 2008.
